When low-wage, mainly black federal contract workers showed up at her office to lobby against the move, Congresswoman Foxx ducked out a back door and ran -- ran fast -- to get away from the workers. It was all caught on video at this link (scroll down). The workers finally caught up with her and her bodyguard at about 2:30 on the tape, but she refused to speak to them and pushed her way into someone else's office to avoid answering questions.
That's our Foxx!
She is an embarrassment
Why do people in her district continually vote her back into office? I am completely baffled by this.

Anon...BECAUSE WE LOVE HER> Well, a majority of us do. There are a few left wing bottom feeders like JW here and a whole bunch of out of town college students who get talked into voting against her every time = BUT the greatest majority of her constituents like the way she represents us; keeps taxes low, curtails government spending and is exactly the kind of CONSERVATIVE representative the people of the fifth district want.
I don't know much about her politics but I do know that when I contacted her office about a problem with the VA, they intervened on my behalf and got my paperwork freed from whatever logjam the VA had created. And, they followed up with me to make sure that the VA response resolved my problem.
Thank you Mrs Foxx!
Anon 7:12 - I don't know about love, but most of her constituents are not aware of how she actually VOTES, or that she supports privatizing Social Security, and turning Medicare into a voucher system. There's a long list, but most voters don't - or can't, because we're all busy making a living and taking care of our families - keep up with it. (And yes, every congressperson has a constituents' services person who deals with problems like Anon 9:23....as they all SHOULD!)
That's why incumbents keep winning, no matter how they vote in reality - most of us simply believe our 'Representatives' vote along with the best interests of their constituents. I've lived long enough to see that most of them vote in the best interests of their big donors and expect those of us back home to be too busy to catch on.
I know how she votes and I follow her votes on most all of the issues that are of concern to me. I didn't like her teapot museum vote several years ago but that is one of the very few times where she has not voted as I want her to.
Maybe YOU don't know how she votes. That would explain your position.
It looks to me that Foxx is pretty consistantly voting the Convervative Republican position. Of course the Democrat left doesn't support her! It's pretty telling however, that left leaners would presume that conservatives don't know how she votes! Obviously, they know how she votes and that is why the majority of 5th District voters keep returning her to office.
We also know how her usual left leaning liberal loony opponents would vote if they were ever able to win an election!
The district has been heavily gerrymandered to keep her in office. She has relied on providing excellent constituent service and makes the right noises on a handful of hot button issues. The average constituent has no idea how she actually represents them and how her votes effect them.
>leaning liberal loony
Thank you for maintaining an adult-level of civility toward those with whom you disagree.
Charlie....you need to get out more. Maybe the average DEMOCRAT has no idea how she represents them, but most of us do. As for gerrymandering the district- where would you draw the boundary lines differently? Maybe pick up Chapel Hill?
If you look at the counties surrounding her district, you will see that most of them are also Republican voting districts. District 5 has been redrawn at least 3 times since she was first elected- elected in a district drawn by a Democrat legislature. Each time they redrew her district, they added more Democrat voters.
You don't like her because she doesn't support your liberal agenda. That's ok but you really need to get past the denial stage and start recovery! You can't blame everything on "gerrymandering" = Trump, Burr and Tillis were all elected state wide and I have heard low information Dems such as yourself claiming that gerrymandering is why they were elected!
anon 1:47....Have you seen the people they have put up to run against her? Left Leaning Liberal Loony is charitable.
The old Foxx has relied on the "black man in the White House" to provide her with a boogeyman for her more recent re-election cycles and keep her base stirred up so they vote for her. Now that the Obama is gone, what is she going to do? It will be interesting to see who she uses next to keep up the fairytale that she is protecting the 5th District Voter, Anon 7:12AM and their ill-informed brethren in future elections. I assume it will be the Mexicans, Muslims, lazy welfare mothers, men infiltrating their daughters & wives public restrooms, the thousands of fraudulent voters in our state______you fill in the blank. The fact is she is really good at speaking in code to the racists & bigots in the 5th district that continually support and vote for her. Let's be frank about this. NC is the state that supported Jesse Helms for all those years and the recent increase in the states KKK membership supports the fact that she has a very receptive audience when it comes to race baiting. Yes it is not overt but if it ain't white and Christian she will use it as the monster under the bed to git you all stirred up. The sad thing about these conservatives is that they continually vote against their own financial interests and think the old Foxx gives a damn about them. The idea that the old Foxx has "lowered taxes or curtailed government spending" is a complete fantasy on Anon 7:12AM's part. She has done none of that while in Washington. The 5th District Voter, Anon 7:12AM and their brothers need to quit swallowing the race bait hook line and sinker. Yes, you swallowed it and and seem to enjoy it. You really need to start using your brains and close your mouth before you get hooked again. Watch what your new president is going to do to your household income in the next four years. Don't be such easy tools.
Ah...the "racist" claim....signifying that the argument is lost!
So much for the claims of civility from the right. The narrative fantasy continues.
You need a new bumper sticker for your vehicle "Keep on Trolling"
The argument is not lost because you say it is. That is a ridiculous statement you made. Racism and bigotry are being used effectively in our political landscape in order to get your vote at an irrational and emotional level. The Republican party created the monster we all now call President Trump with their coded messaging that they have been using since the Reagan campaign. Reagan during his 1976 campaign for the presidency warned his supporters of the "welfare queen" from Chicago who defrauded the government by using “127 names” and posing “as a mother of 14 children at one time.” Whether that individual case was true or not, Reagan used one example to perpetuate the stereotype of black people as lazy. He was the originator of the individualized stories of "everyday Americans." I think he was the first president to use this approach to building his campaign narratives. Like Foxx, he made it clear he would protect you (the voter) from this if you voted for him. As history shows, that messaging worked. History also shows that he was a huge spender, despite his "small government" promises.
In 1986 George H.W. Bush went after his opponent Michael Dukakis for supporting prison furloughs with the famous Willie Horton ad. He race baited voters by preying on their fears of black men being portrayed only as criminals and the idea that Dukakis was "soft" on them. This political strategy worked in H.W's favor. History bears this out. He also was one of the biggest spending presidents in our history, despite the Republican party's claims that they are fiscally-responsible. That is a false narrative that history proves wrong from one Republican president to the next. Like Foxx, it is pure fantasy that they are "lowering taxes and curtailing government spending" as Anon 7:12AM claims. Unless 7:12AM is a millionaire, his taxes have not been lowered significantly in a long time.
Do I need to go through the litany of racist and bigoted remarks Trump made during our most recent presidential campaign? I think they are fresh enough in our painful memories that I don't need to list the famous soundbites from his 2016 campaign. This coded messaging has clearly worked for the Republicans since Reagan and Trump exploited it to the fullest? The long running, 40 year Republican campaign of racist and bigoted messaging has worked to adverse effect for our country. The Republicans created this recent monster they were not expecting. Trump's rise clearly caught them all off-guard.
I realize you try to mask all of this messaging in much more noble causes such as "lowering taxes" and "curtailing government spending" but the fact of the matter is your representatives do not do that once they are in office. Both of the Bush presidents and Reagan are historically three of the biggest White House spenders to date. Regardless of party affiliation, we need to start examining what these government elite are really doing to the country, the middle class and your personal household income.
The DNC is just as bad and I am not going to argue with you about that. I hate Hillary as well. She was a horrible candidate and the DNC got what they deserved.
We are probably not as politically opposed as you think.
History does supports my claim that the Republicans have been using this coded messaging for the last 40 years. My argument is clearly not lost. The Republicans created this monster called President Trump and the DNC helped them out by forcing Hillary down every one's throats on the progressive side. The stars aligned and Trump effectively capitalized on this situation. Again, we are probably not that far apart in our political view point of Washington, DC and the elites running the show. You have to realize a couple of things. FOX News is not really news, its entertainment and that the Republican vs Democrat thing in Washington DC is very similar to World Wresting Entertainment, Inc. (WWE) You need to let go of the irrational fears that the Republicans keep triggering in you and start holding them accountable as our representatives. They have been obstructionists for the last eight years and are not bringing any fresh ideas to the table that benefit the middle class. If you don't reframe they way you are looking at this, average, middle-class Americans are screwed.
