Woodhouse to Harnett: "Drop Dead"

Harnett
The Raleigh N&O is reporting that NCGOP Chair (and Tea Party poster child) Hasan Harnett had his party email account shut off by NCGOP Executive Director (and Machiavelli wannabe) Dallas Woodhouse. Apparently, Harnett was trying to act like he was Chair of the NCGOP by sending out emails, and Dallas Woodhouse didn't like the emails he was sending out. The N&O reports that Woodhouse doesn't really like anything about Harnett, who got his job in a Trump-style uprising by Tea Partiers at last year's annual GOP convention.

Woodhouse is trying to freeze out Harnett. Harnett played his race card: “I mean seriously, is this some form of ritual or hazing you would put the first black chairman of the NCGOP State Party through?” Harnett wrote. “Or is it because I am not white enough for you? You keep pushing the limits. I guess time will only tell what your real plot and schemes are all about against me.”

Hoo, boy!

The Republican state convention is in May. Get your tickets now!

I've met both Woodhouse and Harnett. Here's my take. Woodhouse is as sleazy as they come. Harnett is a good guy. You can disagree with ideology, but Harnett is a solid guy.

I use the litmus test of who would I let watch my kids. I wouldn't let Woodhouse within a mile of them. An afternoon with the Harnett family and I would be afraid my kids wouldn't want to come back.

I can disagree with people ideologically and respect them, but I can't respect people that lie and go behind others back for their own self interest.

Hoo boy! GOP is imploding nationally and locally. All that race-baiting over the decades coming home to roost. We'll see how the voters think about this in November...

You might trust Harnett with babysitting your kids, but would you trust him with funding your kids education? With their civil rights if they are gay? With their pocketbook?

At a distance, it's difficult to tell if the actions of Woodhouse are motivated by race, a Machiavellian power grab, or a struggle between tea baggers and other bases within the state GOP. What is clear is that Republicans at any level - local, state or Federal - don't have anything positive to offer for the direction we need to go.

The only question for the GOP is whether we should drown the government in a bathtub, dunk it in a river and give it a baptism, line it up and shoot it to fight terrorism, deport it to save jobs, beat it to a bloody pulp because it's liberal, or wrap it up with a pretty red bow as a present for Art Pope and the Koch brothers.

I remember a time when Republicans offered solutions and weren't so consumed by fear and anger that they weren't eating their own tail. But that was a long time ago in a world far, far away.

Anon - that's a lot to get into. I was only commenting on the quality and honesty of the person. Was not getting into the ideologies, tactics, etc on everything else. The General Assembly Rep's aren't fond of me...trust me I've received some fun phone calls.

Though I honestly doubt in terms of policy we'd agree on much Lew, it'd be nice to actually have a debate on policy instead of another election season of Jordan mailing out more racist BS flyers across the high country. And basically relying on demonizing boone and liberals rather then taking a stab at actually solving problems.

In that regard, good luck with attempting to hopefully restore some sanity to the repub side.

Though.. I'll honestly also admit I won't hold my breath, the way things are going.

Jesse - you might be surprised. There is a reason Speaker of the House Tim Moore gave Jordan $5,000 in the last few weeks. A bunch of other special interests as well. But, I took personal pride in the Tim Moore donation.
