The guy is an empty suit with big hair. It goes to show you don't have to be real smart to be co-pilot of a C-130. At least he's had more success than our local empty suit, Dan Souchek. Our boy Dan received a $400,000 West Point education only to be forced out of the US Army because he wasn't on the Captain's list after eight years of military service. Do you realize how incompetent you have to be for that to happen? You're in the honor roll of 5% of USMA grads.
JW We all know that you disagree politcally with Senator Soucek and certainly have every right to express whatever negative opinions you have on him. And, we also know that you can't be responsible for idiotic statements made by some uninformed commentators.
But, when you allow a factual misstatement like retired educator's to stand, you give it credibility. I am a veteran. I don't care what you think of Dan Soucek's politics, but to falsely denigrate his military service is JUST WRONG.
Not on the captain's list? No, he wasn't on the captain's list - he was a captain! He received a first rate West Point education and then paid back the taxpayers with 8 years of honorable service.
Dislike him if you will. BUT PLEASE, don't allow factually false allegations from the ignorant to stand.
Now that the subject has been broached re: Sousek's service record, can we get some impartial and factual evidence that might chart accurately his military career with dates of postings, promotions, etc.? All it says on the Wikipedia entry (which is identical to what is posted on the Fans of Dan site and elsewhere) is that he was commissioned as a 2nd LT. in Army Aviation upon graduating from West Point in 1991, served in various postings and resigned his commission in 1999 to come to Boone with Young Life. yada yada.
I don't know why it is even a matter of contention. You can obtain military records on line. If you don't believe his bio, then Google for what you want.
Neutral, that list at the link you supplied doesn't tell me a thing about Dan's record beyond what has already been said (by him and his people)--it certainly does not answer the questions I asked in my earlier post. After some 40 years I can still rather well reconstruct the postings and promotions during my (short) term of service as an officer in the US Army. And A-ninny-mousse, I don't know Gordon Myers. A Google search turned up several people by that name, none of whom seems relevant to this thread.
J.W. Williamson was the founding editor in 1972 of the Appalachian Journal: A Regional Studies Review, which he edited until July of 2000. He has taught college classes in Appalachian history, cultural politics, and literature, and he has lectured widely on the pop-culture history of "Appalachia" in the American consciousness. His books include Interviewing Appalachia, Southern Mountaineers in Silent Films, and Hillbillyland: What the Mountains Did to the Movies and What the Movies Did to the Mountains. He has won the Thomas Wolfe Award given by the Western North Carolina Historical Society, the Laurel Leaves Award given by the Appalachian Consortium, a special Weatherford Award given by Berea College, and the Cratis Williams-James Brown Award given by the Appalachian Studies Association.

Actually, he's been chosen to run for the Oval Office by a higher authority---as in the Bilderbergers.

I agree 2 4 T.
I would think that statement by 'retired educator' is not only totally uncalled for; it's potentially libelous.
