Help me here - Y'all are in Western NC - do you have the Dixiecrats there too? Or can your Ds be expected to actually vote D?
[Over here in the flatlands, any white D over the age of 50 might be a D voter or might be a reliable vote for the Rs. (My parents fit this pattern - registered Ds but never voted for a D at the national level and only rarely at the state level). They even gleefully planned primary sabotage and voted for the weakest D candidate.]
