A Teacher After Madam Foxx's Own Heart

Article in yesterday's Winston-Salem Journal about the public school teacher chosen by Madam Foxx for her "Teacher in Congress" program ... one Daric Beiter, a Davie High School teacher of history, who, after one day of observing Congress in session, summed up his appreciation for democracy:

"As a teacher, I wanted them to sit down and shut up. It was total chaos."

J.W. Williamson was the founding editor in 1972 of the Appalachian Journal: A Regional Studies Review, which he edited until July of 2000. He has taught college classes in Appalachian history, cultural politics, and literature, and he has lectured widely on the pop-culture history of "Appalachia" in the American consciousness.
