Turns Out, Donald Trump Is the Pussy

He came back from his meeting with the president of Mexico still bragging that he was going to force the poor man to pay for The Wall. But the truth is, he choked and didn't evenbring it up. That's Donald J. Trump to a T ... big-talking braggart, who, stripped of his trappings, ends up a dried prune.

Mere hours after his historic election, Trump had decided that he wouldn't want to repeal all of Obamacare. "That was just campaign talk." Just talk. That's what every male pussy in the history of the universe has been good at.

Mere talk? Trump said repeatedly, "I'm going to drain the swamp in Washington!" But who's on his transition team? Swamp critters. Former federal bureaucrats, think-tank academics, corporate lawyers and lobbyists. Plenty of lobbyists.

“This whole idea that he was an outsider and going to destroy the political establishment and drain the swamp were the lines of a con man, and guess what — he is being exposed as just that,” said Peter Wehner, who served in the administrations of Ronald Reagan and George Bush before becoming a speechwriter for George W. Bush. “He is failing the first test, and he should be held accountable for it.”

That big beautiful famous Wall? More talk. James Woolsey, a former CIA director and a prominent swamp creature on Trump's transition team, told CNN (presumably speaking for Trump), "I don’t think we ought to fall on our sword about the difference between a wall and fence. Maybe this will be cheaper because it’s mainly fence, but it’s a good fence." Hahahaha! Well, maybe a good silt fence.

Trump is finding out just how woefully unprepared he is, just how much he does not know, and hence just how totally dependent on Washington insiders he is and therefore weak. Instead of challenging Republican legislative leaders, he'll be their bitch.

When Power Knows No Bounds: Republicans Intend to Nullify the Election of a Supreme Court Justice

The NC Supreme Court race last Tuesday between sitting justice Bob Edmunds and Mike Morgan came out with Morgan far on top. He's the Democrat.

Edmunds was the Republican backed by big corporate donors. The Overlords in the General Assembly -- Phil Berger in the Senate and Tim Moore in the House -- had tried to save Edmunds by changing the election law in that race alone to a plebiscite vote, so that Edmunds would not have to face an actual challenger. The Berger-Moore law change would have put Edmunds on the ballot by himself. Voters would be asked to choose "Yes" or "No."

That innovation got overturned as unconstitutional by a specially appointed three-judge panel, and that decision was subsequently upheld by a tied NC Supreme Court. The high court voted 3-3 to uphold the three-judge panel, mainly because Bob Edmunds had to recuse himself from the case.

Edmunds lost last Tuesday, bigly (54.45% to 45.55%). Now Berger-Moore, with the willing participation of also defeated Governor McCrory, intend to pack the Supreme Court in a special session next month with two more Republican judges before McCrory has to pack his bags and leave.

Mark our words: They will do it. Because they can. And because they do not care what anyone thinks. They only care about ensuring that the unconstitutional laws they pass will get a stamp of approval from the state's Supreme Court.

Best News of the Day

Howard Dean: "I'm Running for DNC Chair"
Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean said he is running for his old job atop the Democratic Party.
"The dems need organization and focus on the young," Dean tweeted Thursday. "Need a fifty State strategy and tech rehab. I am in for chairman again."
Dean served as Democratic National Committee chairman from 2005 to 2009....
For those who don't remember, Howard Dean presided over a revitalized Democratic National Committee through the 2006 General Elections, when incidentally Democrats won every race in Watauga, from County Commission to NC House and Senate seats, and through the surge of 2008 when Barack Obama won the presidency and the Watauga GOP didn't even field a single candidate for County Commission.

Come back to the raft, Howard honey! We're waiting for you!

North Carolina Gets a New Governor

The winning margin is razor thin -- 2,281,851 for Roy Cooper v. 2,276,850 for Pat McCrory -- but there are some 100,000+ provisional ballots still to be counted, including 500 in Watauga County, so we expect that margin to grow wider with Cooper still on top. Plus the narrowness of the win will trigger an automatic recount in all 100 counties.

Everyone will be watching the opening of the provisional ballots and the recount, perhaps no one with more self-interest than Bill Aceto, chair of the Watauga Board of Elections. We believe his four-year reign over ballot access in Watauga is over.

The four-year reign of Four Eggers as county attorney is certainly over, as Larry Turnbow defeated David Blust for the County Commission. Control of the commission passes to the Democratic team of John Welch, Billy Kennedy, and Larry Turnbow, so Eggers will be history as county attorney.

There may have been a red tide in North Carolina but not so much in Watauga.

Congratulations to Mr. Trump for winning the presidency, the first man in history to win the office without serving a single day in any elected office nor a single day in the military. Those who have felt unjustly stymied from expressing racist attitudes will now feel free. And we'll look forward to Mr. Trump's mid-term election in 2018.

Watauga County Early Vote Numbers

In just Early Voting:

Hillary Clinton 10,930
Donald J. Trump 8,345

Deborah K. Ross 10,679
Richard Burr 8,783

Observation: Although Ross matched Clinton almost vote-for-vote, Burr did better than Trump in Watauga probably because there were fewer 3rd party votes in the Senate race

Josh Brannon spanked Virginia Foxx 11,250 - 8,840 in Watauga Early Votes

Because the folks in her home county ... well, we know her

Roy Cooper 11,866
Pat McCrory 8,009

Bam

Democrats in every Council of State race, from Lieutenant Governor to Auditor, are leading every Republican, often by substantial margins.

The Democratic County Commission candidates are leading the Republican County Commission candidates in all three races by substantial margins.

We'll soon see how much these early voting numbers are altered by the turnout and voting today.
