"You Can't Tell Me! I'm an Effing Corporation, Bitch!"

The door that the 5-4 Supreme Court's Hobby Lobby decision just opened, courtesy of Mecklenburg County Commissioner Bill James, who wrote on his Facebook page:

"The justices' 5-4 decision Monday is the first time that the high court has ruled that profit-seeking businesses can hold religious views under federal law. And it means the Obama administration must search for a different way of providing free contraception to women who are covered under objecting companies' health insurance plans. If corporations can hold religious views (they can already have political views under Citizens United) then they could be opposed as a corporation to homosexual rights, trans surgery, abortion, medical coverage for anyone that isn't one-man one woman. This will cause liberals decades of headaches."

Can cause our democracy a few migraines too. Since, now, corporations are not only people. They can also be religiously bigoted people too.

The corporate take-over of the Republic must be 97% accomplished by now, no?

Oh ... Bill James? Yeah, he's a well known conservative jerk.

That Didn't Take Long

The first move, made by a notorious gay-hating public servant (?) in Mecklenburg County, to make sure that the passage of Amendment 1 will inflict real economic and emotional pain on real persons who are now rendered defenseless to this sort of persecution by all you "Christians" out there in Voter Land who needed to prove how much you love the Lord by punishing other people because they don't conform to your dogma.

You ought to be ashamed, but of course you aren't.

Mecklenburg County Commissioner Hates Dick (Burr)

A little over a year ago, on Dec. 16, 2009, during debate on the Mecklenburg County Commission over proposed domestic partner benefits for LGBT county employees and their partners, Republican Commissioner Bill James leaned over to fellow Commissioner Vilma Leake and said, "Your son was a homo, really?"

Commissioner Leake had just made emotional comments about her own son who died of AIDS.

Now Commissioner James is really, really morally outraged at fellow Republican and U.S. Senator Dick Burr, for voting to repeal "Don't Ask/Don't Tell."

We assume, also, that he won't be attending the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) convention, since that leading conservative group has invited the gay Republican group GOProud to participate.

What's becoming of the Republican Party and its confessed conservatives? Must Bill James fight this battle alone?

MeckCo Official Calls Colleague's Dead Son "A Homo"

Meet Bill James, Republican County Commissioner in Mecklenburg. He's a dick.

Tuesday night during a County Commission meeting in which a majority of commissioners agreed to offer domestic-partner benefits to county workers in same-sex relationships starting in 2011, Commissioner Vilma Leake spoke about her own son's death from AIDs, following which Commissioner James leaned over to Commissioner Leake and asked: "Your son was a homo, really?"

Leake responded: "You're going to make me hurt you. Don't do that to me. Don't talk about my son."

Yesterday Mecklenburg County Commission Chair Jennifer Roberts said that James should apologize for using the slur to a fellow commissioner.

Ever the jerk, Commissioner James has refused to apologize.
