Jonathan Jordan Plays the Race Card

Weren't we all waiting for this? Instead of Cullie Tarleton pictured in a sombrero, the racist image Jordan used in 2010, he's now out with a mail piece showing his challenger Sue Counts side by side with an angry black man.

Classy, Mr. Jordan.

We didn't expect any less.

    Yep, waht a piece of filthy, lying garbage the Jordan flyer is;

Bullshit claim about Sue raising taxes by $7 billion, nonsense.

It's ssd that most Republicans will vote this fall not knowing that their Republican legislature has already raised taxes upon almost all the working people in our area by doing away with the earned income credit. The unknowing Republicans will be surprised come tax time; this is a large tax increase on those who can afford it least.

Anyone who knows Sue Counts knows that this disgusting piece of filth does not represent her in any way.

I saw that flyer yesterday - what a crock! I'd venture to guess that your average voter doesn't even know who Rev. Barber is! Also, that thing is full of bullshit - 7 billion dollars in tax increases? Increasing the corporate tax rate from 6% to 50%?? Where did they get that stuff? There are no citations or anything to say where those numbers came from, so I suspect someone just pulled them out of you-know-where. The funniest thing, though, is the bad grammar on that flyer and there is one misspelled word. Hey, NC Republican Party - there's a difference between "then" and "than"! Idiots!

Is there anyone left out there who is influenced by stuff like this? I'll bet most of these flyers end up in the trash can! Keep on pissing that money away, GOP!

#NCGOP seems to feel they can win ONLY by suppressing the vote and issuing mailers to appeal to the racists within their party. We deserve so much better. Here's to hoping that the racists are not the majority in this district.

The NC Republican leadership has nothing to sell the general public except fear, bigotry and scapegoating.

Aside from the overt racism and despicable play to the worst instincts of white people, what struck me was the poor quality of the work itself. My kindergartener could have done a better job of photoshopping. It created the unintended, but ironical result of a halo around Sue Counts' head. Another example of the inept GOP. Can't even do their hate mail correctly.

"what struck me was the poor quality of the work itself."

I know - I can't figure that one out. It looks like it was put together in about 5 minutes by a 20-year-old who has questionable computer skills. From the bad photoshop job to the needless dashes between words (out-of-touch??) to the rotten grammar and the wrong use of "then." Didn't someone proofread this thing? And this isn't some shady outside group - this was paid for by the NC Republican Party.

So then, help me out here. Is ANY mention of Reverend Barber's political activity racist? Or is it using a photograph of him that makes this a racist ad?
    Inquiring minds want to know.

You want help, huh? Butter wouldn't melt in your mouth, would it?

That's a manipulated photo, and any damn fool can see how and why it was manipulated. The reverend's clerical collar is blacked out to go with the general vampire theme.

But you already knew that this wasn't just "a photograph," didn't you, you dim little "inquiring mind" you!

Anon 3:31 - it's the photo of the large, angry black man behind the sweet little old lady, along with the obvious hyperbole about his political stands without any indication that Ms. Counts actually subscribes to any of them, other than innuendo. Discussion of Rev. Barber's political views is not racist, particularly if it has some grounding in reality (I don't believe this mailer does) - and what his views have to do with Ms. Counts is a mystery.
