They want you to know they hate fags. Photo by Lonnie Webster |
According to the
Winston-Salem Journal, some 2,000 protestors of Pastor Worley's "put 'em behind barbed wire and let 'em die"
Mother's Day sermon came out in Newton yesterday. About 100 "God Hates Fags" counter-protestors, several from deepest Georgia (like we don't have enough of our own home-grown bigots!), shouted Bible verses at the sinners.
According to WLOS, 1000 protestors were across the street. Getting carried away a little there JW.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this could lead to an employment opportunity. Someone should start a rent a bigot company. They could hire inbred loving, queer and gay hating, back woods livers to be bused in. They could be taught on the ride to shout lines regardless of what they mean ? Just thinking you know.
ReplyDeleteChurch members and about 100 visitors from in and outside the area gave Worley a standing ovation when he approached the pulpit. A few members stood up from the pews and spoke out in favor of Worley as officers watched and intervened when one particularly longwinded member spoke.
ReplyDeleteThe atmosphere was a vocal and jubilant one. The sanctuary was mostly full, with the vast majority of the crowd singing and crying out in joy. Many threw their hands up in praising the Lord and in support of the pastor.
You shall know they are Christians by their love.
If there is one thing I can't stand it is an ignorant bigot. The bible says that God hates FIGS —Mark 11: 12-14— get it right or shut the hell up.
ReplyDeleteRecently people were recruited on Craigslist to wear big coal t-shits for two hours; pay $50.
ReplyDeleteYou mean the conservatives should copy the Occupy Wall Street movement.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the Hickory Daily Record (which ain't no lib'rul paper, Bro), "More than 2,000 protestors armed with signs and slogans lined Newton’s Southwest Boulevard...." Wish I had been there!
ReplyDelete"You shall know they are Christians by their love."
ReplyDeleteThis is why I am no longer a Christian. I was raised to think this was true, but as I grew older and met people from all walks of life I realized that it is not true; some of the kindest and most loving people I have met were not Christians, and many Christians I knew were hard-hearted, judgmental and even hateful. That Charles Worley calls himself a Christian, and leads a congregation that calls itself Christian, is perfect proof of that.
shyster,
ReplyDeleteMy sentiments exactly. In fact, biblical misinterpretation is a key ingredient in the wobbly (jello like) foundation upon which contemporary evangelical beliefs are built. There are many references of food stuffs in the new and old testament that have been completely ignored and/or twisted, pretzel like, into something completely out of context. Shame really.
To get back to the original text one only needs to raise their hands and shout,
"Praise the Lard!"
Pigs not Figs don't you know!
...Perhaps this revisionist history explains the demonization of the Pastafarian's?
Now, Now....lets leave his great Noodliness out of it! Unless needed as an antidote to Creationism, of course!
ReplyDeleteIts funny that you people think your interpretations of the Bible are more correct than those of millions of people for thousands of years. That is a little arrogant, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThe bigot in this photo is not the problem. This and other images of this bigot acting out his bigotry will be one of the few achievements in this man's sad life.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is with people like Dan Soucek who have made a conscious decision to exploit the ignorance of this man and Reverend Charles Worley for political gain.
The fact bigotry is a strong political tool is not lost on GOP leadership.
Many good people buy the hate and bigotry of clever politicians and religious leaders both in the Muslim and Christian faith.
Look at this image once again and instead of seeing this poor toothless screaming man filled with hate, see the face much more powerful politicans, clergy and corporate money behind such bigotry.
Anon 9:14,
ReplyDeleteIt is not the interpretation of the Bible that is in question, it is the interpretation of the US Constitution which is being ignored. The bible, whether you like it or not, is irrelevant to the law. The law is designed to be independent of religion. Interpreting the bible at all pointless.
If the Bible is irrelevant to the law why have you been whining and complaining that people voted according to what it said, in your opinion?
ReplyDeleteDidn't you just refute everything you have been saying, Happily Married?
