Many of us are not supporting this tea party move into social issues. We joined in an effort to vote fiscal conservatives into office. Now we have been taken over by zealots and the religious right. We were once all part of a coalition based on our desire to restore fiscal sanity to government. This focus on defining marriage is just dividing us!

Yes. We were had. I worked for Tea Party candidates in 2010 because I thought we were all about CONSERVATIVE government, and a government that focused on fiscal issues and jobs, not social issues that take government into private lives. As far as I'm concerned, we were used and abused.

I don't think we were "used and abused". We just got complacent and let a few people advance their individual agendas while the rest of us went back to civilian life after the election.

Too bad. My belief is that this splinter group has taken over and it will destroy what solidarity we had when we were pursuing an interest of importance to all of us.

Well, I still feel used and abused. I worked for Tea Party candidates last time. None of them ever said a word to me about working on issues like this Amendment. I actually asked one candidate if he was going to stay away from the social issues, and he assured me he would. When I contacted him about this Amendment, he told me it was part of his platform, which is an out and out lie. So yes, I feel abused.

  5. Anon 5.51--that wouldn't happen to be Dan Soucek, would it? People like Dan, who are "that close" to Franklin Graham (who walks and talks with God 24/7), ought not lie. Bearing false witness is actually one of the Ten Big Shall Nots. The Tea Party was happy to lure the so-called Christian right into supporting them in 2010, but now that it's payback time some of the sheep are beginning to stand on their hind legs.

JW I am an ex-Ashe GOP activist. I decided to re-register libertarian the day Dan Soucek sponsored SB 106. Wheeler really let things get out of control.

nday would agree with that? As a Christian and retired teacher, I can tell you those three things hurt children far more. Mother of a gay son who is NOT a pedophile. Oh ye who love to judge.
