Her excuse? It's damn expensive to be a U.S. representative! Why, they only pay me $174,000 a year (her husband is a surgeon, so her scale for "average" may be a trifle skewed):
“Unfortunately, being here in Washington is very expensive,” said Ellmers. “Yes we do have a salary and we do have benefits. It costs a lot of money to be here. I've signed on to the private plan, just like so many in America are on. The benefit is available to me. People need to understand out there it costs a lot money to be here in Congress.”
You keep posting the same things over and over again. Yes, members of the legislature get health care as part of their wages. They did so when the Democrats were in charge and you hypocrites had no problem with it. How many times do you need to cry about the same thing. You lost. Get over it.
ReplyDeleteto squirm-if you don't understand the real hypocrites of the whole health care thing, then you are truly hopeless and clueless. And this ain't the legislature, it's the Congress where the teapots are just gonna "change everything." Unless, of course, they have to give up a perk they don't want us regular folks to have. The entire nation LOST, not just Democrats. except for the top five percent who financed the LIES!!
ReplyDeleteSquirm: To reiterate - it's the hypocrisy we object to. Democrats want to extend their access to health care to everyone. Republican pols don't think the rest of us deserve the same high quality low cost access that they have, even though we are paying for their health care.
ReplyDeleteVery well stated Brushfire. I just get so upset who keep pushing the big LIES that I can't post with gentle reason. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI would like to hear some comments on the main objections I am hearing to Obama's health care plan. First, it is going to cost the taxpayers a fortune. Second, it is wrong to require people to purchase health insurance because it takes away their freedom to choose how they spend their money. Third, many of us cannot afford health insurance. Fourth, if the government is involved in health care the whole system will be inefficient and health care will have to be rationed. And last, the whole system will abound in fraud.
ReplyDeletePeople are hearing these things and are afraid to take a chance on health insurance reform. I'm just throwing these issues out for discussion. I'm afraid to take a chance on leaving things the way they have always been because so many uninsured people get their health care "too little too late".
Answer: Optional Medicare Buy-in for all.
ReplyDeleteWhat Anne said.
ReplyDeleteIf the government is involved in health care the system would be inefficient..
ReplyDeleteIt depends on who is in charge. Some government systems such as Social Security are fantastic and very efficient. VA health care has gone from excellent, to awful, to excellent depending on the type of person in charge.
The health care system we have today is extremely inefficient. We pay more for health care than any other country in the world and by all measures we are down on the list of overall quality.
When positions are given to unqualified cronies and political hacks, programs suffer (Heck of a job, Brownie). This is a problem with private industry and corporate programs as much or more than it is with government programs. At least government programs are subject to public oversight.
