City Council members approved a 90-day moratorium on "big-box retailers"
last night while they study new design and development rules. The moratorium prevents rezonings and permits for buildings of 150,000 square feet or over and was precipitated by citizen protests of a proposed new Wal-Mart Supercenter, which would be the third Wal-Mart in Forsyth County. Lawyers for Wal-Mart argued that the moratorium would be detrimental to the company.
