The Real Romney Stepped On His Weenie

Apparently, when Mitt Romney speaks to his peeps, the 1%, he finally gets authentic. "My job is not to worry about those people," he sez, by which he means the other people not invited to $50,000-a-plate fundraisers at the posh homes of hedge-fund managers.

"My job is not to worry about those people." (Incidentally, we already knew that about you, Mitt, but we appreciate the confirmation.).

Mitt told his filthy rich that some 47% of the American electorate -- is that roughly half? -- are just freeloaders anyway, including, we assume, all those elderly people riding on Medicare-funded scooters who are probably planning to vote for this man anyway, since the news won't penetrate as far as Fox.

Then last night, at "a hastily arranged press conference," Mitt sez he ain't sorry for the sentiments, only the "inelegantly" chosen words. Hell, we thought the words were ever bit as elegant as the setting.

This comment will cause all the progressives to get their thongs in a wad. No one likes to hear the actual truth about what is going on now in America where the "takers" almost out number the "makers". More people on food stamps, more on disability that getting jobs in one month of June, etc.By 2016 or before, the US will certainly be close to the Greeks. It is also very judgmental to refer to a group of Americans who pay most of the taxes as "filthy rich". This group pays the taxes that the 47% do not pay.

Honest answer Anon, if Obama had said he didn't care about half the country, how fast would the right wing blogosphere be raking "King Obama" over it? Probably with another lie about how unconstitutional this "Tyrant of a president" we have is?

As for the BS about how the 47% don't pay taxes.

But hey, keep swallowing the big lie if it makes you happy. Same with how all the red states love to keep voting against their own self interest.

You hold onto your Fox News talking points, Anon. Meanwhile, I'm reminded that Mr. Romney himself may be one of the biggest takers out there, but we don't know because he won't release his taxes. And incidentally, 1/5th of his 47% moocher-class are senior citizens, and another 3/5ths DO pay payroll taxes.

What is Romney going to do after the election? He took all his buddy's money and lost it. Live with George on the ranch, I guess, or Dick in Jackson Hole. Too bad, Romney can' get away to visit his money with his friends, Bush and Dick; they can't take a foreign vacation in fear of getting arrested for war crimes.

Jesse got it absolutely right. It is a huge misconception to think that the people who don't pay income tax are all Obama supporters. Either Mitt knew that and lied or he was clueless, and neither of those is a good scenario.

If you click on the excellent links Jesse provided, you'll also find that over 60% of those who pay no income tax are households making under $20,000 a year. You know, I'm okay with not squeezing a few more dollars and cents out of a family that's living on less than $20,000 a year.

That's what really amazes me about what Romney said. Does he really believe that there's not a single Republican in that group of the 47% who don't pay income taxes?? He was slamming some of his own supporters! I got news for him: I pay federal income tax, and I'm definitely NOT a Romney supporter. If he's writing off 47% of the population to start with, plus other Obama supporters like me, how in the world does he hope to win the election? What a nimrod.
