When Is a Lie a "Discrepancy"?

When? When Republicans are in control of the NC General Assembly.

Republican Speaker of the NC House Thom Tillis, along with other Republicans in the Clown College like Dan Soucek and Jonathan Jordan, have been claiming that "NO teachers were harmed in the making of the new Republican budget for the state!"

They lied, naturally.

Teachers have been fired.

Because of the new Republican budget.

That fact seems only now to be entering the public's bloodstream.

Do you have any numbers for the amount of teachers that have been hired and how many are currently employed by the state?

No problem for Soucek apparently. He managed to jump the line to snag a spot for his kid on the More At Four program even though he voted to cut available openings for others. I wonder how he qualified for the slot? He must not have reported some of his income.

Anon 10:33,
Joe Hackney when he was in Boone last week said that no one knows exactly how many teaching jobs have been lost -- and may never know EXACTLY -- but he put the number in the 10,000-range for BOTH public schools and the university system.

The best state source I've seen for public school teaching jobs lost is this: http://progressnc.org/.

Should think the State Department of Education would have statistics on the total number of teachers employed each year in NC.

So if you do not know and cannot know then all of your posts are simply speculations that is slanted the way you want them, are they not?

Last Anonymous, get your head out of your ass. Did you follow the link?: http://progressnc.org/

Did you see the running tally of teachers lost in the state's public schools this year?

Are are you such a dumb ass you don't even know how to read?

Joe Hackney should look at the NC Department Of Education web site. They report every year as to the numbers of students, teachers, adminstrators, etc in every school in NC.

Maybe he "will never know" because he doesn't want the truth?

Soucek put his kid in More at Four, seriously? That takes some nerve.

And just because someone cannot give an exact number doesn't mean you can't trust reliable estimates.

Since "More at Four" is specifically intended for low-income families, I think the anon poster here was wondering how in the world Dan Soucek would qualify. Is he not a full-time employee of Samaritan's Purse, plus his Senate salary, PLUS that famous small business he owns?

So, I can't take your posts seiorusly? You just said some hack named Hackney (appropriately enough) indicated that no one knows how many teaching jobs have been lost. Do you think this is a lie now?

If one will look at the grammar of Anon 10:33, one will easily see the problem.

One cannot have an "amount" of items, only of volume. One can only have a "number" of items or persons, as Henery correctly stated. (Sorry Henery, I'm getting tired of gently corrections - the various "Anons" posting here will never notice them.)

Here you go:
Total full-time personnel 2009-2010: 182,939.

Total full-time personnel 2010-2011: 180,470.

Looks like the data for 2011-2012 is not out yet. http://www.ncpublicschools.org/fbs/resources/data/

These prove Opinianated is just that, he does not give factual definitions.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/number

Amount and number mean the same thing in this context.

Good start anon....of course your numbers don't include part time personnel or any employee/teacher/adminstrator who is in a charter school. I believe the real total is around 190,000- but nontheless, your numbers serve as a good enough benchmark. Maybe you could send a copy to Joe Hackney who says that "no one knows"......

The next question is how many were fired because they preformed poorly, retired, or left for some other reason than the budget. Finally, was there really a need to rehire someone to replace any of the above?

If we had any kind of investigative press whatsoever in Watauga County, they would get to the bottom of the Soucek More at Four business.
