I would love to get annexed. That way, I could vote in town elections, the increased tax burden would be offset by a reduced water bill, we would not have to pay for trash pick-up, and our street would get snow removal service (not that it matters to the guy with no car, but I'm sure the neighbors would love it).
The Town of Boone must be pretty good at negotiating deals, because the amount of property tax increase would be less than the savings on my water and trash pick-up bills.

I can see where you are coming from if you are in the ETJ and and are being disenfranchised.
