Masquerade

The letter to the Watauga Democrat, "Taste the Tea Party Yourself" (also available on Facebook), is signed by someone selling a spiked beveridge, purporting to be just another regular citizen who never had much interest in politics until "the growing overreach of the federal government and interference with our constitutional liberties" inspired the letter-writer to get involved, apparently for the first time in her life. She went to the Boone tea party, and she amazed even herself by climbing onto a bus with other regular folks and traveling to Washington, D.C., to participate in the big Obama-Is-a-Nazi dust-up on 9/12, promoted by Glenn Beck and Fox News.

By now we've become used to the lock-step vagueness of those "constitutional liberties" that are supposedly being ripped from us, but the letter-writer's pose of prior political innocence proves to be something of a masquerade. The author is a registered Republican who votes in every Republican primary and even in second primaries. She's been very politically engaged for years, according to her voting history available from the State Board of Elections.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. Glad to see a committed partisan who never misses an election, including that 2nd primary between Foxx & Robinson in 2004.

But don't try to sell me a bill of goods that the tea party movement isn't a Republican Party opportunity to gin up the juices of the anti-Obama mob, for fun and profit.

The apparent need of tea party organizers to hide their Republican partisan goals says more about the current rattiness of the Republican "brand" than it does about the true fears and faiths of truly "regular Americans."

Thanks for the research and the reveal. Republicans masquerading as ordinary citizens, joining the Tea Baggers wanting to "take back our government?" Bullshit!

Why couldn't she be honest about her intent? Because NO ONE would listen, that's why.

The letter in the paper presented an invitation for people to see for themselves what happens at a Tea Party. BikerBard, on the other hand, wants people to agree with him blindly and makes personal attacks.

Williamson ignores the fact that Tea Parties are bipartisan. This is proven by the fact candidates endorsed by the Tea Parties have regularly done better than candidates endorsed by either the Republican or Democrat parties.

Which person seems more reasonable to you?

brushfire said...

Biker makes no pretense to being non-partisan. He is upfront and honest about his beliefs.
And get real. There is nothing "reasonable" about the tea-party gangs. They are either manipulative demagogues or ignorant pawns of the demagogues.

Mike D. said...

Brushfire,

I disagree with you on certain issues. Would you say I am more of a malevolent manipulator or an ignorant idiot? Or perhaps I am just an alliterative ass? :)

Mike D. said...

Clearly, anyone with whom we disagree must be either evil or stupid. It's the only way the world makes sense!

Which reminds me... now that Bush is gone and Obama has come, what has become of Halliburton?

Mike D. said...

This whole 'diversity' thing is really beginning to irk me. If it weren't for all the ignorant and manipulative people running around, we could all think exactly the same! ;)

Mike D. The touted tea-party movement is fueled, fed, and fostered by the fake news channel, Fox. This so-called "news" channel has an agenda, and they use the medium of tv to push their agenda. This is OK, except they lie brazenly and boldly about their agenda in order to manipulate the viewers. ("fair and balanced, we report, you decide".)
If your opinion is different from mine, and you back it up with logic ,or evidence, or even another perspective that makes sense, I might change my mind. It has happened. In any case I will respect your opinion.
But if you ride a bus hired and paid for by corporate flunkies, spout slogans and sound bites without being able to explain what they mean, and follow evil demagogues like Limbaugh and Coulter, you are a pawn.

Mike D. said...

Ahhhh, Brushfire... /sigh

We all have justifications for the stereotypes and labels we apply to others. I do not fault you for your human failings.

But you are oversimplifying that which you do not understand, that which frightens you. You name your enemy in simple terms... "evil".

Hey wait a second... that's what Bush did as well. You're either with us, or you are working for the axis of evil.

Brushfire, did you get hired to work for FoxNews or something? ;)

BikerBard said...

Hey Mike:
Ask me that opinion question- manipulator, idiot or ass.

Mike D. said...

BikerBard,

Somehow, methinks I know which one you would choose. :)

Ding ding ding, we have a winner!

Exactly!

Well stated.

Sort of like Glen Beck and the other manipulators on Fox Noise?

No one answered the question as to the identity of the most reasonable party. Please review the first thread, which makes a mockery of this one.

BikerBard did make more personal attacks.

Beck and Fox News list sources and back up what they say. BikerBard makes few comments other than personal attacks and never provides sources to back up what he says. Why does he take the trouble to say nothing?

Brushfire, are you forgetting the 14 busloads of union thugs that trespassed on private property and frightened the lone child at home in the house to the point he hid in the bathroom. This incident surpasses anything you can point to.

Bwaaaaahaaaaaaahaahahahaha!

Wow, you simply live in an alternative reality. How's the air up there?

Yeah baby, if you will not listen, you cannot hear. If you do not look, you cannot see.

Mike, I do call Coulter and Limbaugh evil. My definition of an evil person is someone who deliberately sows discord and hatred in order to harm others. Coulter and Limbaugh are both particularly evil because they are very intelligent and have the potential to make the world a better place. Instead they mock and denigrate those who are already suffering, and they do so for filthy lucre. (Love of money is the root of all evil Timothy 6:10).

Anonymous: what thugs are you talking about? Can you give me link?

Maybe you should occasionally watch Fox News so you can be informed of these events.

Anonymous said...

Brushfire, do you consider BikerBard evil. He meets your definition?

brushfire said...

Anon - Biker doesn't pick on anybody who doesn't pick on him first. He doesn't pick on children, the homeless, and the poor, as does Limbaugh and he doesn't advocate raping the planet as that vampire Ann Coulter does.

brushfire said...

Anon - Thanks for the link. Are you supporting the Bank of America and AIG CEOs? Really? You think what they did to this country was just fine and dandy?

BikerBard said...

The Coward, Anon:
Why don't you pick a name and stand behind it? We all do. Or are you trying to hide behind more ananymice?

And you are awfully concerned about me. Worry about yourself, moron! We all talk about you when you are offline.

I notice that Bushfire dodged the question about BikerBard. Asking a question about Brushfie's opinion is not picking on the Bard.

BikerBard flees when no man pursues. Maybe he has something to hide.

Bard, if you are so brave, why don't you use your real name. How does using a pseudonym make you a hero? Are you a schizophrenic whose blog name has taken over his persona?

BikerBard said...

Anon:
You're so cowardly you cannot choose a handle and need to hide among several anonymice. Use your own real name, A-Hole.

Hey, there's a handle for you to use.

I'm done with you, bitch.

Very nice post Bard. It makes you appear very intelligent.

How about it Brushfire? Is the Bard evil?

Bard, why are you so hung up on a pseudonym? Did not your god W.S. say something along the lines of that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet? I believe you are hoist by your own petard.

BikerBard said...

I believe the correct verb should have been, "hoisted."

You are still a moron and I treat you with the utmost disrespect you so rightfully deserve. And why all the calls to Brushfire to support your lame position? Need moral support? Someone to lean on? One friend on this entire blog?

Be a big boy now, or put on your big girl panties and stand on your own two feet.

You EARNED such contempt, little one!

BikerBard,

Correcting Shakespeare's English this evening, are you?

"Once the word is known, 'hoist by your own petard' is easy to fathom. It's nice also to have a definitive source - no less than Shakespeare, who gives the line to Hamlet, 1602:

"For tis the sport to have the enginer Hoist with his owne petar".

To wield Shakespeare's words as a sword only works until you fall on those words.

Thank you for acting out a clearer example of what it truly means to be "hoist by one's own petard".

Please answer the question Brushfire. Do you approve of the Bard's conduct or are you silent because you find in reprehensible?

You also haven't given us your opinion about the conduct of the 14 busloads of union thugs. Conduct is what you complained about with Tea Parties. The issue over which they or they union thugs are protesting is irrelevant. What if it had been your child at home alone?

No Bard, as I merely post my opinion, I could care less what you or anyone else thinks of it. You see, I am content to let you have an opinion of your own. Maybe you should work on your self esteem as you appear to be threatened by any kind of disagreement with your ideas.

Anonymous said...

Folks, we are going to see more and more Tea Parties and I am personally behind it. Something has to be done to get control of our government out of the hands of those in control.

An example is Senator Kay Hagan. Try to get any response out of her, it will not happen. She even refused to meet with a group of NC folks visiting Washington, her own constituents. Believe me Senator Burr's office gave us a very warm welcome and so did Representative Foxx's office. Senator Hagan has absolutely no idea what her constituents want.

Wake up!!!

I stand corrected. I wlll try to use Google more often, as you obviously do. I'm carrying the Collected Works of Shakespeare in my head. Forgive me a senior moment. "O my follies!" -W.S.

Isn't the Mouse's attempt to enlist Brushfire to join him amusing? "Come on, kids! Help! Help me because I can't do this alone. Help me try to beat up on BB. He hurt my feelings! He's pure EVIL because he called me a bitch!"

"All thy other titles thou hast given away; that thou wast born with." - W.S.

brushfire said...

Anon - To clarify - NO! I do not consider Bard to be evil -for further explanation, see previous post please.
The conduct of the so-called union thugs was not nearly as reprehensible as the conduct of those whom they were picketing. I really can't feel sorry for the CEO's of the companies that have destroyed so many lives and may yet destroy our democracy. What's your position on the CEO's of BOA? Helpless victims of the evil unions? Really?

BikerBard said...

Next Anon to Brushfire:

OH NOOOOO! Wah, wah, help me!

Maybe we can just agree that the Bard is a big, 'ol meany?

Anonymous said...

Thank you, Brushfire, for answering the question.

I do not understand your logic. Apparently you feel acceptable behavior depends on the identity of the person committing the behavior and the identity of the person they are acting against. Do you not feel this to be hypocritical?

Actually Bard, I find you to be irrelevant.
