What are we to make of North Carolina Senate candidate Richard Burr's statement yesterday that he would be running on his own record as 5th District congressman and NOT running to defend the president? You mean -- gulp! -- that the president might require a little defending for his handling of the economy and the war in Iraq? "I will not run from this president," Burr said. "I will campaign beside him."
Eerie, ain't it? Case of the nerves, perhaps, or has Mr. Burr gotten some wee hint that maybe this prez isn't entirely the asset he was once thought to be?
